English for Latin America (ELA) is an innovative Interactive Audio Instruction (IAI) program developed to address a critical gap in English language education across the region. In many Latin American countries, English is a required subject in schools, yet trained English teachers are in short supply—often leaving classroom instructors with little formal preparation or fluency. ELA was designed as an affordable, scalable solution to this challenge, delivering engaging, high-quality English instruction through a series of 100 audio-based lessons. Each episode blends dramatized stories, music, games, and guided language practice—empowering both students and teachers to learn together in real time, even in resource-limited classrooms.
Lesson Excerpt (Level 1, Lesson 11)
This is an excerpt from Lesson 11 of 100 in ELA Level 1. Early lessons include more Spanish to support comprehension, with English gradually increasing as learners gain confidence. Like most IAI programs, it features original songs to teach vocabulary—one appears at the start of this lesson, and another around 24:15.
ELA – COVID Response Video
As part of the program’s COVID-19 response, this video was created to highlight how ELA could support continued English learning from home during school closures. It introduced families and educators to the program’s structure and demonstrated how its audio-based lessons could be adapted for at-home use—ensuring learning didn’t stop during lockdown.
