As co-founder of RootsAI, Ana M. Cetina helps lead a growing nonprofit focused on ethical, community-led approaches to AI, language access, and cultural preservation. Together with her partners, she develops and delivers hands-on training programs for youth and community leaders that offer practical experience with AI tools, along with instruction in audio and video data collection, data sovereignty, dataset management, and digital storytelling—equipping participants with both a strong foundation in ethical AI and marketable technical skills. Her work bridges technical learning with cultural stewardship, empowering communities around the world to shape the future of AI on their own terms.

In January 2025, Ana M. Cetina and her RootsAI partners traveled to the Philippines to deliver an AI training for agro-entrepreneur youth representing six Indigenous communities from Mindanao. The initiative was part of the RAPID Growth Project led by the Education Development Center (EDC), in collaboration with the Philippines Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and funded by Bank of America.
